Clicking After Cold Start

When I start the engine and it's cold, I hear a consistent clicking/ticking coming from the engine for somewhere between a few seconds and 30 seconds, depending on how cold the engine is. I have yet to make it from the driver seat to the engine with enough time to really locate the noise before it quits. I am thinking that it likely has something to do with the exhaust/emissions/EGR, but I am just guessing. Any ideas?

Hm. . .that's not ideal. . .

reed valve. maybe.

Mine ticks all the time. loud injectors. maybe a valve adjustment. who knows.

most likely you are hearing lifter noise. possible sticking a little bit, but most likely needs a valve adjustment

Alrighty. Thanks. Now a few questions: 1) How difficult is a valve adjustment on a 3VZE? 2) What are the consequences of a sticky lifter? 3) How difficult to fix?

Also, valves on the driver side are pretty darn quiet, which is why I'm thinking that the clicking/ticking that I'm hearing may be related to the EGR/emissions, etc. However, due to the placement of the emissions components and the fact that the passenger side valve cover is essentially hidden, I can't readily tell if the noise is from the valves or the emissions control system. . .
