Clicking noise while off, battery dead

I was unfortunately away when my boyfriend sent me a video of my 2014 Trail Premium making a clicking noise. He had driven it the day before and went out the next morning to it clicking and finding that the battery was dead. Any ideas what might be going on?
He charged the battery that day (two days ago now) and there seem to be no visible issues since.

Was it clicking when he was turning the key or just sitting there with no keys in the ignition.

If he was turning the key to start it, sounds like it was just a dead battery from leaving something on possibly.

Since there hasn't been any other issues since, it would make the most sense.

No key in the ignition and wasn't trying to start it. It was just in the driveway and he heard the clicking when he went out. It was a steady clicking/ticking noise coming from the left side.

When I swapped out my battery I used a 9v small battery holder similar to this
https://www.amazon.com/APSG-OBD11-B...1539730262&sr=8-2&keywords=12v+battery+memory so I do not lose my settings etc. When I removed the battery post it started clicking like crazy until I connected the new battery. I think the small 9v battery did not have enough power to keep the relays from turning on and off. I think your problem was the battery was almost completely run down. If I were you I would probably get a new battery.

It’s 4 years old and it’s cold where you are. I’m betting the battery has a bad cell and just needs to be replaced. It’ll continue to randomly happen until you replace it

When i first got my Runnah I didn’t know you had to double click the lock button to auto-off the headlights. This resulted in waking up to a chirping Runnah. I got out the multimeter, tested the battery which was low (shocker) and got a jump. Everything has been peachy since. My Runnah is a 15 trail so not much newer than yours.

Strange. They’re supposed to go off after a minute if you don’t double click
