Clicking under the dash

I an annoying problem under the dash of my '02. I'm hoping that someone else has already seen/solved this problem before I start taking things apart.

I can hear an intermittent (sometimes faster, sometimes slower, sometimes not at all ) clicking sound under the dash that sounds like the rapid cycling of a relay. It seems to be quiet when the car is stopped so that I can't pinpoint it.

It also seems to affect the AM side of the radio, but not the FM side. The AM playback seems to cut in and out with the clicking of the relay.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

My first thought would be your brakes. If you have the car running in park and pump the brakes about 5 or 6 times do you hear it?
