Now a sidenote..... Why is there so much play in the front pads that allow this shifting and noise to take place?
One would think Toyota would have a fix for that.
IE: Tighter fitting pad to pin tolerances or some type of bushing to take up the play....

No answer as to the designs but I have people with almost every Toyota complain about it. Obviously it will only happen 1 time from reverse to drive then from drive to reverse but it freaks some people out. Technicians here just refer to it as "pad shift" and that it is completely normal because we use floating calipers.
