Cloth to cloth seats wiring confusion

Hey all, I installed cloth seats from a wrecked (I want to say 2001) 4runner into my 2001 to replaced the current stained cloth seats. All went smooth except for the front passenger seat. The truck has a 3 wire plug, whereas the donor seat has only a 2 wire plug. Any idea how to wire this up?

I swear we just had this and solved it. Did you search? I really don't want to do it again, although it was pretty easy. Heated seats? Motorized?

That's the plug for the weight sensor to either enable/disable the passenger side airbag.

I want to say that you received seats from another year as the plug should have been the same if they were pulled from an '01.

In either case, I'm not sure how to go about rewiring that.

In my 99, the driver side is 2-wire seatbelt and the passenger seat is 3-wire seat belt plus occupancy sensor, they share a common continuity circuit, meaning both have to bridge to disable the warning seatbelt light and activate the airbag. Not sure if it's different in later years...

Weird, my '99 EWD definitely shows a single 2-wire on the passenger side. Now going out to look at MY '99 to see what real life says.

According to the EWD, the seat sensors are not part of the SRS system in '99 and '00. My '99 only has a two-wire plug, white, with a yellow-green and a white-black wire and all it does is the warning light. I'll be back when I figure this out for the later years.

OK. In '99 and '00, the passenger seat sensor is a two-wire white plug and all it does is illuminate the Fasten seat belt light for the passenger if there is a butt present and buckle not closed. No connection to SRS.

In '01 and '02 it is a four-pin plug with three wires. The SRS system has a separate connection to the seat sensor and they use a common ground.

For the OP, on the truckside, the blue-yellow wire is for the SRS. The yellow-green wire is for the warning light. There should also be a white-black for ground.The seat should be a yellow-green for the combined seat/buckle sensor plus a white-black for ground.

The diagram isn't clear, but I assume the SRS tap is before the buckle switch as I believe the SRS should fire whether or not the belt is fastened. Unfortunately, the early seat will not have this tap. As far as I can tell, the early SRS does not care if someone is in the seat. Only '01 and '02 have this.

I think the best thing for the OP to do would be connect yellow-green to yellow-green for the warning light and leave the SRS thinking there is always a butt in the passenger seat. However, I can't be sure if that is an open connection or a grounded connection on the blue-yellow circuit. If you had the old seat, you could test it. Otherwise, we would need someone with an '01 or '02 to test their seat to see how that blue-yellow circuit is switched. I would not want to guess if a passenger's life might depend on this. Of course, safest would be to get a compatible '01-'02 seat.

I'd test mine but I have a '99 so no help. Sorry for my earlier post which I will delete.

As far as I can tell, the early SRS does not care if someone is in the seat. Only '01 and '02 have this.

That's my understanding, based on the last thread involving this kind of stuff. I couldn't find any connection between the passenger seat occupancy sensor and the SRS system (which I keep reading as SR5!)

Another possibility is taking all the sensors/wiring from the original seat and transferring it to the new seat. You'd have to take off the lower seat cover and possibly foam, but it should be doable.
