Clunk noise

Recently my 06 4runner after braking and starting off slowly makes a clunk noise in the front or drive line. Feels like passenger side. Could it be a bad brake caliper and holding up so slightly and then releasing. Just seeing if any one else has had this issue.

Could be slip yoke clunk, very common on almost every make 4x4. I've had Chevrolet's and Fords that do this. Also seems common on Toyota's as well, there is a TSB'S for select model years.

Like others have said, it's probably the common slip yoke clunk. If you do your own maintenance, pump some grease into the slip yoke and it should go away. I switched to synthetic grease and have not had the clunk come back since. I lube all the nipples every oil change.

FWIW, I've also had seized brake calipers and they did not clunk at all. I had steering wheel vibrations at highway speeds, a pulling steering wheel under braking, and you can also tell if a caliper is seized/sticking by feeling if an individual wheel is warmer/hotter than the rest after driving for a bit.

Normal. Just get the driveshaft lubed up as often as every oil change. It'll come back though after the grease starts breaking down.
