So I am a storm chaser and while chasing last week, in blinding rainfall, I came upon a small log/branch in road, probably 4-6 inches in diameter, but I couldn’t avoid it and hit it.
Fast forward to that evening and I am hearing a “clunk” when turning to the left.. i.e when weight is forced onto the front right end. Just going straight over bumps etc doesn’t make any noise..
Here’s what I have tried:
- Removing sway bar end links to ensure it wasn’t either 1) Sway bar hitting my skid plate mounting brackets which is common after lift (yes, I did sway bar relocate kit too) 2) Wasn’t sway bar somehow hitting the coilover or 3) Bad links themselves
- Tightened the alignment cam bolts to 130ft lbs, previous shop who aligned it didn’t torque them enough, but this didnt fix.
This is a new Icon suspension 3k miles ago. Extended travel coil overs + Delta Joint UCAs. I greased the UCA bushings well on install and again today.. I did not grease the delta joint as it comes greased.
In cases where I am turning the wheel hard, really trying to make this noise, it feels like its on the right side, but when I am just turning a corner and there’s a dip which moves weight around, it almost feels more centered... Regardless, I feel it in the steering wheel every time.

I do see some grease leaking from that outer tie rod, maybe that somehow causing it? I plan to replace it.
I can’t help but feel that log had something to do with it.. The only other change I made recently, last week, was add my front bumper, winch and light bar... Winch isn’t moving around and bumper is very secure, so don’t think that’s related.

looked from top and bottom didn’t see a crack, checked both sides too in case
