Clunking from the brakes...

Lately I have noticed that, when shifting from Park (P) into Reverse (R) or R into Drive (D), when I release the brake pedal I am getting a clunking or breaking loose sound from my front driver's side brake. Anyone ever experienced this??

What year is your truck?

Sounds like you are describing the noise the brake pads make when they shift in the caliper when you go from forward to reverse. Is is normal to a point, you can lube the metal to metal contact points on the pads to queit it down.....in some designs you may have to replace anti rattle clips.

Hope that helps, Jason.

Thanks Jason,

It's an 05 V8 SE. I had it in the shop yesterday and the tech said it was normal but he also said the brakes were dirty and out of alignment so he cleaned and adjusted them and the sound has gone away so far. I will bring that up to him if it recurs.
