"Clunking" noise - 1st Gear - 1996 5 spd

I've got a 96 SR5 5 speed with 120K on it and sometimes when I start out from a stop in 1st gear I'll hear a clunk coming from somwhere undeneath the truck as I let the clutch out. It is worse when going up hill or towing...any suggestions? It has never popped out of gear or slipped, but I'm worried thats where its heading.

maybe a transmission flush? sometimes transmission dry up and so you have to change your transmission fluid.

check your tranny fluid level, and also make sure your u-joints are all good, and try lubing the drive train

may be drive shaft bind up. try pumping some grease into the expansion joint fitting.

is it only when you take off? I sthe clunking continuous when you are going up a hill or is it just every once in a while?

Check your spare and make sure it's tight since mine "clunks" every once in a while from a standing start if I get on it.
