clunking noise when engaging 4wheel dr

I own a 2004 SR5 and when I go from 2wheel to 4wheel drive there is a clunking noise from the back of my car. Should I be worried?
My speed is usually between 40-55 mph and the dash indicator for 4wheel drive keeps blinking for at least a mile or so. Since winter has just started for me, I've just started using the 4wheel drive the last week or so.

First off, welcome to the forum!

There is usually some noise associated with engaging 4WD, but if you could explain your scenario a little better you'll get some better responses... your speed while engaging, how long you've had this noise, etc.
