Clutch Adjustment?

So I picked up my new 3rd Gen today, '99 Highlander 5 speed.

The clutch grabs real high up towards the end of the pedal travel. Tyrone grabbed real low like a clutch should IMO. This thing doesn't slip at all but it just grabs real high. Is this adjustable on a 3rd Gen at all? I've only ever adjusted cable operated clutches.

Dont know about the adjustment, but good god. Good thing you never got addicted to crack, although this addiction might be more expensive

Haha, thanks. Honestly, nothing expensive about it. I've made a good chunk of change on everyone of these I've sold.

Your clutch should be hydraulic so there is really no adjustment needed. As the clutch pedal gets higher that usually means the clutch is near the end of its life.

There is a free play adjustment, but usually isn't needed unless someone has put aftermarket parts in that aren't quite right. I just posted the procedure for someone else the other day.

Did you observe closely how the pedal operates? This takes a helper. Sometimes the pedal breaks loose somewhat from its fixings and injects slack into the linkage, so to speak. There is also a plastic bushing but I forget what happens when it goes.

I've got 146,000 on my 5 speed and taken one clutch from new to zero and the 'catch' never got real high. It just started slipping. I also never adjusted anything. I'd look for another problem.

there is a freeplay adjustment, as was said. but, unless someone has messed with it, your clutch is worn, and needs replaced.
