Clutch feels loose all of a sudden

Over the past 1000 km or so, I've noticed that my clutch pedal feels really loose. It doesn't engage until the pedal is almost fully out and It feels very vague and sloppy when it does engage. When I bought the vehicle about 15000km ago, it was really tight and the engagement point was very sharp. I'm very easy on my clutch and haven't wheeled at all in the past 1000 km so there's no way the sudden change in clutch feel could be from normal clutch wear.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what could be the problem?

How about the oil level in the clutch pump? Has it gone down?
Slide under the truck and carefully open the dust boot in the slave cylinder (Caution: oil may come out, if leaking). If there is oil, you have a bad slave cylinder.

First thing to do is check your fluid level. If its low add more and look for a leak. If leak is found repair or replace the problem. If fluid level is fine then you should bleed your clutch hydraulic system. Very easy task and see if that helps. If neither of the 2 works you may need a new clutch system. One more thing to look at is for cracks in your pedal bracket and worn bushings.

Had a similar problem with my Accord back in the day. After bleeding and making sure my master or slave cylinder wasn't leaking it all came back to normal. I suppose it's the same for 4runners.

I'd bleed the line first. If that doesn't work, it's probably your master cylinder.
