clutch problem?

I am getting a horrible metal on metal noise on my runner, basically it will not do it if i rev rpms while in nuetral, but when moving under a load I start to get a horrible metal on metal noise that gets faster with engine speed, the second I push the clutch in it's gone. if I let of the gas it goes away too.

Anyone have any ideas? or maybe had a similar problem?

this noise is NASTY like REALLY NASTY lol maybe I might get a video up of the noise or something but any help is really needed as I am about to buy a new engine but I might buy a clutch for the moment instead if it is the problem. I dont have a lot of time to drop the tranny to diagnose the issue that's why I am posting here.

Sounds like a bad bearing in the front of the transmission. I had the same problem, leading me to replace the transmission. With mine, the noise was much quieter in 4th gear than others, is that the case with yours?

Yes, much quieter in 4th and 5th, 5th its almost not there.

You can't just replace the bearing?

My understanding was that this bearing required complete dissambly of the transmission to replace. I had access to buying a parts truck with a good transmission for $150 and jumped on it to fix the problem... Ended up making about $500 on the deal as well and have a garage full of spare parts now too...
