Apperently about 3 months ago I noticed that my clutch master cylinder's reservoir (bucket) was somewhat low on clutch fluid (DOT 3 brake fluid) so I topped it of (I only drove about 1500 KM in the past 3 months) and now it was almost completely empty so when I went underneath my truck I noticed that the rubber boot for the clutch release cylinder was wet.
I never repaired/replaced the clutch release cylinder so I would like to know if I can tackle the job myself as I don't have a torch,welder,other specific tools or even the SST # 09751-36011 (special service tool).All I have is basic metric hand tools (sockets,rachet,open end wrenches),Gedore Torque wrench and the FSM (factory service manual).
Genuine original Toyota parts in Canada cost a small fortune so I would like to know if I can buy a clutch release cylinder rebuild kit from Toyota,Aisin or any other good quality manufacturer if so I need the corresponding part #'s and a website for the manufacturer so that I can find a local dealer for the rebuild kit if rebuilding is better,if not then other brand names & part #'s for the clutch release cylinder.
Please note: that my truck is 20 years old and rusted everywheres so that might help you to tell me whether I need a new one or rebuild my own,also do I need new clutch lines? if so what are the specs?and what are they called?.Thanks in advance for help/replies.
