Coating truck in bed liner

Anyone done it? Sitting on the beach bouncing ideas in my head about the color scheme i want to go for. Only downsides I can think of is weight and cost. I can't imagine it would be a light weight option but it would definitely be solid and add some sound deadening to boot.

keep in mind that if you do put benliner on the whole thing, the prep work to do it is to rough up the surface that will be coated. This involves steel wool, a grinder, and sand paper on the WHOLE surface. Darker colors due noticeably fade when in direct sunlight. They crack and peel as well if the surfaced has not been prepped correctly and will possibly need re coated in a few years. lots of colors out there to pick from just make sure it is a quality product.

We used the Beige from U-POL and are not happy because it turned out yellow from far off but tan up close. So we are covering it up and thinking of going with red. Very Curious if you used U-POL tint or something else available? This red looks good but it does appear not quite red , the same can be said for our beige experiment. So I am thinking of using the brand Custom Color "Hot Rod Red".

Anyway let me know which one you used please.

I've always thought that bed liner looks chintzy on most trucks unless they're equally built out with steel bumpers and big tires.

Don't decide until you see a bedlinered truck in person. They look fine in photos, IMO pretty awful in person. YMMV, of course.

Well, I’ve wanted to do this for a while, but I’ve kinda given up on the idea. The lineX body coat product is just so damn nice looking…….but….. at $8500 for the quote for mine……..um……. Yeah…….no.

A guy not far from me has a black one, and it kinda looks shitty to be honest. They seem super prone to fading. I saw a teal spray liner job on an old tundra in Moab back in April, and it looked great. I researched the raptor liner product hard. I’ve also seen a grey Tacoma that was awesome.

But in the end, I think she’ll stay mostly stock black and catalyzed primer. I can redo the body 3-4 times doe the price of the lineX job. The “FOrunner as she’s affectionately known around my house is usually dirty anyway, so what the hell. The scratches and pin stripes are earned!

Bed liner body is a real commitment for sure. For every one that looks awesome, there’s 10 that look sucky. Tough as nails, but sucky.
