Coin holder question

When did Toyota change underneath the coin holder in the console? My coin holder sort of hangs from the top of the console, but I've seen other pics where the coin holder seems to be mounted solidly down to the console floor.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I think they just wanted to make it so you could remove it if you had no need for it. Not sure when the design changed though. Mine is the same as yours.

I believe you can remove both styles. I know that mine simply lifts off its mounting tab. It looks like the newer design has some sort of functional piece mounted under it, but I'm not sure...

Starting in the 2006 model they added the audio AUX plug in the center console below the removable coin holder, and in my 2006 Limited it has the accessory plug in for small electronics. That is why it looks like its built up under the coin holder.
