Cold Air Intake for 2006 V8?

Can anyone tell me if there is a cold air intake available for the 2006 V8 4runner and if so, who makes it?

If there are cold air intake(s) available for the 2006 V8 and if anyone has any experience with them, I would like to hear your thoughts.

Thank you for the heads up. I'll put a CAI on my short list of things not to do. Maybe I'll save some money and do a K&N drop in... just because I have nothing better to mod, I guess

I was just hoping to find a solution to the significant loss of power that I experience on hot days in Southern California. Whenever the mercury approaches or exceeds 90 degrees F, my seat of the pants dyno registers in the neighborhood of a 20% loss in horsepower. When it is above 100 degrees F, the loss feels like 25-35%. In such conditions, all I hear is cooling fan... my rig seems to be stuck in peanut butter.

Agreed! When i'm sitting in the traffic in Mexico trying to come back across the border (after a nice weekend surfing trip, or to get some perro tamales) As soon as i come through the crossing i hear the cooling fan going hard and the acceleration is dismal in the 20-30% decreased range as well. This is after sitting in that traffic for 1-2hours on a 85F+ day as well. As soon as it all cools down after a mile i hear it sounding normal and accelerating properly again!

The cold air intake will help you out, instead of sucking in all that hot air the filter is farther away and protected from the engine heat. It will help a little but all cars will loose power in the heat.

Stock is more efficient

Well, if you look at the stock intake vs the supposed CAI systems out there, you will see the stock intake is actually a cai itself. The engineering behind the stock system is much more involved than the aftermarket system. Just my .02.

If I were to do it again, I would just put a high flow filter into the stock system. Plus, I really dont care for the noise on my Volant cai. Supposedly, the Volant CAI adds like 15 hp...my "ass o meter "tells me it isnt so.

I am too also selling my CAI. It's a K&N 63 series. It was only on the Runner for a couple of weeks, a bit too loud for my taste. PM for details.
