Cold Air Intake?

Cold Air Intake: 1986 Toyota 4runner in California

1) Is it legal?

2) Are there any pre-made kits for this vehicle, or do I have to build it myself?

3) Has anyone done it? Can I see pictures? Maybe a before and after if possible?

Thanks!

PS: My car is in the shop for engine problems, I will take pictures and post when it returns.

LC Engineering sells them: http://www.lcengineering.com/

Look under air management in their online catalogue. They are very helpful on the phone and can tell you about California emissions compliance.

If you're looking for a drastic HP improvement though, you will be very disappointed.

A good header and exhaust system is the best performance improvement that you can make to that 22RE without rebuilding the engine, IMHO. Next, change the cam, then go to a ported head with larger valves, etc. Air intake is way down the list.

Not trying to be a bully but that is just funny..... 1) Is it legal?

Even if it wasn't legal would that really stop you. Are the police gonna ask to look under your hood or the rice burner going BING BING down the street.

Hey on that website the hompage last engine on the bottom of the page.... Is that a 5VZ? Cuz I want one like that wow!

Sorry I meant when I go to get it smogged will it be allowed?

it sure will be allowed...

you wont get much power increase, just a SLIGHTLY better throttle response...and the sound is nice :D

I'm sure someone makes a kit for your vehicle, I have a third gen so I cant say I know for sure...

good luck!

i've look around and LC Engineering is the only one who sells a kit, its the K&N FIPK (fuel injection performance kit) but its like 170 and its only a K&N Filter and mass airflow meter adapter.....rip off in my book. you can buy the adapter at auto parts stores for like 25$ and a universal 3in. filter from k&n for like 30$ and just make the bracket supplied with LC's kit yourself......heres a link for that kit KN FIPK Kit From LC

I hate to go off subject but I don't want to start a new thread. Is there any1 out there that has a snorkle W/ pics? Also somewhere to buy it. How hard it was to install stuff like that.
