Hi all, I have a 2005 sport Edition V8, I bought a used volant cold air intake from a user here, I just got around to putting it on and now my 4runner wont stay running. It will start and run for about 3 seconds and just dies. Any help would be great. Thanks.:dammit:

hmmm. Only thing I can think of is to make sure the mass air flow sensor isn't in backwrds. Did you disconnect the negative battery terminal before restarting?

I did not disconnect the battery, how do i know if the sensor is in backwards? i put it back the same direction that i took it out.

it should look like this.

thanks for the help, i turned it around and it runs. now it sounds like i need to disconnect the battery for about five mins.

thanks again.

Now that the CAI is installed and working how do you like it? Better engine sound? Better MPG? More HP? I'm considering the same unit.

It will give you a little more rumble, but no improved mpg. If there is more power you don't notice it. I had problems with mine and it kept tripping codes so I removed it.

i disagree, i average about 19.2 mpg compared to about 17.9 of what i used to get. the hp gain is minimal at best but the pull through the gear is what you notice. it doesnt bog down at higher speeds and seems to just power through. the sound quality is amazing and very noticable, do it.
