Cold start squeal

The past 2 times I cold started my T4, I got this this gawd awful squeal coming from the front end, lasts about 10ish seconds and then calms down.. Its the loudest serpentine belt squeal i've ever heard. it just happened suddenly, and morning temps haven't really been that bad(17F). Hoping to get some more experienced input. is this just a dirty belt or is my truck going to explode? should I replace immediately?

Sounds like one of your bearings on one of your pulley is going, or your belt is too loose

I've had this since I did a river crossing two years ago. Mostly on damp, foggy, or rainy mornings, It always goes away quickly. There's some dirt or contamination in the the bearings of one of the idler pulleys most likely. It's been covered in many other posts on this, FJ, and toyota120 forums. Napa makes replacement idler pulleys that have bearings sealed front and back, where the toyota bearings are only sealed on the front. Search for "Idler Pulley Bearing" or something similar in the forums.

I haven't replaced mine yet cause it goes away quickly, as soon as it stops going away after 10-20 seconds (which will happen eventually), I'm going to change all three idler pulleys and the serpentine (which you need to remove anyway).

Thanks for the input, and the link. I did run a search, but I didnt read much about the urgency of replacement. I replaced the idler and tensioner pulleys on my GMC about two months before I traded it in for my T4. :redbrick:

Hi, I'm new here. Just curious. If it's a bearing wouldn't it be squealing the whole time?
