I have a 99 4runner all stock engine. I moved to Hawaii in April and my 4runner spent a month being transported from Florida to here. It obviously didnt run much when it was enroute but ran really well considering its lack of use. Over the past two months that I have had my 4runner here in Hawaii on many occasions the engine has started extremely cold as though i were starting it in Chicago in February. It takes about 30 seconds of pressing the gas pedal (in Drive) to get the engine warmed up. There are no noticeable cold engine characteristics while in reverse however. One time while in a drive thru my car shut off on me. No engine light and it started right back up. It was however a little shaky/stuttering for the first minute but evened out. I sometimes feel like Im lacking power especially when climbing the hills here. I am trying to figure out if I can fix this or if I should just get a new car. Ive only got 5 payments left and really dont want a new car payment for 5 years, any suggestions on what might be wrong would be greatly appreciated.
