yes. Loud enough to be annoying and have to turn the music up ...even louder:)

on a 3rd gen the Coleman rack will not fit within the confines of the factory cross support rails-definitely not with the extension.

I am meaning from front to back of the vehicle-side to side placement is acceptable.

My truck will not be able to fit under my garage door (yippee my OMEmu coils and springs are here!!) with the rack on top of the rails-I was hoping to mount more flush to the roof-any mounting suggestions?
 
for guys running there spare tire up on the rack, how did you get it up there? i tried taking mine off then putting the tire on it and putting it back on the rack but it was to heavy for me to put up there by myself.

and how did you guys tie it down?

I put the tire in the rack. 285s are hella heavy but I was able to lift it up there and place it in the rack by myself. I use 4 bungie cords pulled real real tight. I'm gonna put a cable and lock on it too.
 
yea i got my 265 up there once but i was worried that i didnt have it secured good enough so i took it down and decided to take off the rack first then mount the spare so i knew it wasn't gonna go anywhere.

i just put the rack and tire under my carport till i have a friend over to help me get it all together up there. i figured since i was driving to just work for the next couple of days i could save myself maybe some mpg.

out of all the racks i have seen on 4runners i by far think that the surco safari rack looks the best

Haha i do have a biased oppinion with me having one but i think that it fills up the roof better and makes it look more complete

nice, you got anything holding down that spare? i wanna put 4 hellas on my rack to but i'm not sure if the coleman rack has any attachments for lights.
 
yeah if you go to the surco website surcoproducts.com you can buy the light attachments as well as the spare tire carrier attachment, if i were you i would just go to lowes and buy some hardware to attach the lights it would save you some money and you could use bungees on the tire
 
anybody get the extension on the Coleman rack and put it on a 3rd gen 4runner? I put our basket on yesterday and would really like to add a bit to it, but don't want to block the sunroof.

Guess I COULD get out a measuring tape, but I'd really like to see what it will look like/ how it fits, if anyone here happened to buy the extension.

I bought my rack, knowing that I would be getting a 4th gen. eventually. I use it for either 4Runner. I also have a hitch packer that fits on both cars. I agree, it looks pretty nice.

I use the rack and / or hitch hiker to add more storage when I need it. Both come in handy.
