College football playoff

Hey all! I looked around and didn't see any college football play off threads. I am very happy about the playoff this year. 4 teams I think needs to be expanded to 8 but that is another discussion.

Who do you think will win the championship game tonight and why?

I'll start. I have my hand in both cookie jars. Urban brought my program out of a downward spiral and broke into the BCS at Utah. On the other hand, my Dad was raised in Springfield, OR. He has been a ducks fan for many a year. I want pops team to get a championship. Also, Pac-12 money pay out for Utah helps also.

Oregon. They are a much more physical team than years past. The game will be won or lost in the trenches/run game. Freeman and Mariota will run, and will need gaps created by the offenseive line (which has been questionable for Oregon this year.) The air game will be like it has been all year. With time Mariota will carve a secondary open. I'm really excited for this game!

It's going to be a hell of a game. Both teams are just so damn good. It's going to come down to who gets defensive stops, and OSU's defense is incredible. But we haven't seen a QB like Mariota either. He is one hell of an athlete. It will be an epic first CFP-National Championship for sure.

Man you aren't kidding with that defense. Oregon's defense doesn't get a lot of credit because of how explosive their offense is. Their defense has a "bend don't break" mentality. Moving the ball between the 20s is very easy but redzone wise they really bear down and make stops. Jones though... I think tOSU has made everyone jealous of their QB depth! Here is hoping to a good game! Glad there isn't an SEC or ACC team in the 1st CFP-Natty!

Im not really hardcore for either team but in this case Id like to see Oregon win. I have a co-worker that will catch hell if Ohio loses tonight and it will be fun to watch the smack talking tomorrow. Other than that I have nothing riding on this one. Should be a GREAT game though.

I agree. I really think these teams match up really well! I am hoping for a ducks win just because of my team being in the Pac-12. I hope it is a good game and not a complete destruction of one team or the other.

Congrats to the Bucks. Elliott is a special kid, and I'm not even going to get started about their QB.

Not for Oregon. Way to represent the PAC-12. Another blown National championship! BTW, how is it the officiating crew is from the Big 10? Can't they get a neutral crew for something so important?

I think we repped the pack just fine, Paul, there's no shame in losing to an Urban Meyer team. Super bummed for my boys of course, but we'll be back. Mariota was awesome, but we've had a string of awesome quarterbacks and the next one could be even better. He'll have a stronger set of skill players around, too - we've got about fifty running backs that could start for half of the top 25. Next year is going to be good.

As it was said. There is no shame loosing to Ohio. It sucks but they have the best coach in all of College Ball right now. It was a pretty good game for the most part.

Precisely. The Ducks got stomped. Lost the battle in the trenches on both sides of the ball. If that was a "fine" representation of the Pac-12, I'd hate to see a poor one. Where I played, there was always shame in losing(self-imposed). But hey, at least u got there...:thumb:

Oregon was a great opponent. I know that despite some of the asshats, most OSU fans respect the Ducks and the fine program they've built in Eugene. Mariota is a special athlete and is a hell of a person. A great kid with great potential. Same time next year maybe? Great game to both teams. , and I agree with the sentiment that thank god a non SEC team won. Just a little sweeter it was my Bucks!

Ohio state played incredibly well. As for conference representation, the Pac-12 was little embarrassed by both top teams in each division (north and south) Zona getting kicked by BSU and Oregon by tOSU. I think the conference still posted the best OOC and bowl record among the power 5. Our top tier programs just can't execute on the field apparently. Pretty crazy season this year!

It was a Big 12 crew.

I just Phil Knight has to dump another 100 million into Oregon.
