Colorado Meeting on March 17, 2012

Ladies and Gentlemen of T4R.org or any other website, I invite you once again, again to a day of sightseeing, trail driving/riding, and overall good times. This event will take place in Colorado. This gathering of beautiful 4Runners and other off road vehicles will be open to anyone of any skill of driving. We will hopefully be driving and cooking over an open fire while on the trip.

Why: Because we love our 4Runners!

Meeting in the springs to be a 2 hr drive.
Meet at Hollywood Theater @ Interquest Parkway at 745.
Denver folk meet us at,
Conoco at the Evergreen exit (by the McDonalds) at 945.

If it's Yankee Hill. The Denver area people can meet at the Conoco at the Evergreen exit (by the McDonalds).

Yes, there are 4 cemeteries there. The big lot is just to the left (there may be some big gravel piles, the parking lot is just past them).

A poorly non-tactful way to put it and of course how I speak is...
By having a working CB you are doing a favor for the people that are trying to lead the group as well as others that have information that should be passed along. Without a CB you become a PITA. For example, when the scout or lead finds a bottleneck they can't stop you from following in making it difficult or dangerous to back down. Another example, when there are updates on what is happening with the group you are not making the lead get in and out of his rig, to walk up the trail, through the mud and ice to get to your deaf rig to tell you what's going on while you sit on your duff in your cozy heated cab.

If you are a bone stock rig and this is your first time wheeling I can completely understand why you wouldn't want to put a CB in. You might hate wheeling and why waste the money if you are never going to wheel again. You are justified. If you however have just put on a lift, bigger tires, or a bumper etc. Then clearly money isn't an issue nor is the knowledge of enjoying the greatness of wheeling. Take out your miser wallet, or in some of your cases your purse (not necessarily talking about women here) and pony up the cash to get with it. I just did a craigslist search a few minutes ago and found 6 used CBs for under $50. If you can't afford a used CB then you can't afford to go wheeling becis one of the cheapest and best mods you can do. If you want to be a stud get a HAM radio too.

This is all my $0.02. At RM4x4 we require everyone to have a working CB to go on a trail run with the group. It's one of the few requirements there are.

This forum is a different place though. I don't think there is a need to require a CB unless the OP wants it to be that way. I'm happy to wheel on the occasional trail with folks that don't have CBs it's still a ton of fun and a great way to meet new people. I know going in, that I'm likely to get some exercise (which I am in desperate need of) and it's also a good reason to shoot the breeze with folks. If there wasn't such a benefit with nearly no down side I wouldn't even bring it up. I have yet to meet someone that said they regret having a working CB.

Put me down as a maybe. If you're been following my other thread in the 4th gen section, you know I'm about to get some tires that should be the last step to some decent wheeling.

Provided that goes through just fine, this will probably be my first attempt at wheeling with the new tires and my new lift!

(Side note: I'm still missing most of the recovery gear that I'd prefer to have with me. Hope that's not a problem. I'll probably pickup a cheap CB though, so we're good there. )

Right on Jester. Looking forward to seeing the new lift and shoes in action. I've got a diff to rebuild so like all trail runs there's wrenching to be done with the clock ticking.

On another note. I'm in line to get my front differential repaired. I'm still going to try but with the delay in getting him the diff, the delay in ordering the parts and then the install time it's unlikely I'll be able to get it done in time for this trip. I'm going to be down for a month easy. What a bummer.
