combining different gauge wires?

Hey,

Doing some electrical stuff and I want to link 2 light sources(an LED turn signal on the 06 projector) to the original 04 turn signal in my bumper. I have some 18gauge wire, but the lights' wires are really thin, I'm guessing like 20-22gauge. Is it safe to use a bigger wire to link the 2 wires? Google was most unhelpful, and I don't really think its going to be a problem, but better safe than sorry.

Yes, not a problem to connect two wires of different gauges. Solder then shrink tube would be your best bet or you could use either a solderless crimp type step down butt connector or a solderless crimp type parallel connector with shrink tubing.

Mechanically it's fine to do, and J.A. gave some good advice. Just make sure that the current draw through the thinnest wire isn't too high for its size.
