Coming back to my old 4Runner

I am in the process of getting back my first 4Runner. Its going to be retired as a daily driver and become the "fun" vehicle. I think its about time for a rebuild on the motor (280K), new suspension, new clutch and a roll cage is going to be fabricated and a lot of mods as the money comes up. I must say I have missed having that old Toyota, its a lot lighter than my new vehicle. Anyways what I was going to ask is has anyone rebuilt a 3.0 V6? Is there a company that sells rebuild kits? Should I hotrod the motor? Do a motor swap? I am definitely going to MSD ignition. Whats the best suspension to put under it? Thanks guys.

I wish I could give you some advice based on experience, but I've heard a bit about doing the 3.4 swap using the OffRoad Solutions kit . . . which is what I would look at first.

I have a mechanic buddy that has experience (from days gone by) of putting small block Chevy V8s in them.

Personally, to me the heart of the vehicle is the engine, and if I put a different (non-Toyota) engine in my 4runner, it just wouldn't be right (for me).

That's my two cents.
