Compass and Thermo

The compass and thermometer hav issues (SR5 - integraeted into the rear view mirror asembly)
The compass has gone haywire and has been for days or weeks. It displays garbage. One time it displayed C

Before it has gone haywire only 1 or 2 days

The thermo is on Celsius and we want F

to reset the compass on the rearview, go to an large empty parking lot. hold down the comp button. as it starts to count down, drive in a few complete circles.

it should, after a minute, reset itself. mine does.

ok. makes sense. I have an aftermarket one from JCW that you have to make 3 circles to set it up the first time.

I just thought maybe the sun and heat burned it out on the 4R, but I'll try that driving in circles thing first.

i have an 02 sport edition 4runner

it did not come with a compass or a thermostat.

is there a way i can buy the mirror from toyota that has the compass built in and just replace it - meaning, is the compass self contained in the mirror and is there an exisiting prerun plug in my headliner to plug it in to? or does this compass have an external module somewhere in the truck? or, maybe there is no ppower plug for it in my headliner above the mirror?

what about an external thermostat?

anybody know?

i was also hoping i could change out my manual heat/ac controls with the digital climate control. anybody know if i can make a clean switch? do the back of both have the same harness plug?

you shouldnt go through toyota, thatll be very costly.

get one on ebay.
