COMPLAINT ABOUT DUNLOP AT's

How do you think someone would go about complaining the Dunlop AT/20's? I want to complain about them but I don't whether to complain to the service dept., the dealer, Toyota, or the manufacturer. Anyone have ideas?

uh guess again. after selling a zillion 4runners the dealers know what u already know. look at the tire warranty booklet if u really really want. they'll probably quiz u bout yur driving habits, number times u rotated and balanced, miles driven, etc.... i'll be amazed if u get anything...maybe a coupon or something

I have a 2005 SE with less than 7000 miles (all on-road) on it. I will look at the book though, thx for the tip.

Ya, no doubt huh! Always shoot high, right? I only have the 17's though...are they available in the 17" size?? I am great at getting free shit from stuff I don't like. One time we rented a car at Hertz at the Las Vegas airport and I was late bringing it back and the a-hole clerk charged me like 150 dollars so I wrote a letter to the complaint dept. and they refunded me my total rental charges and gave me a 200 dollar corporate voucher!

No man, the stupid letters are starting to crack and are eventually going to start coming off the tire and the tires get horrible traction that kicks on the ABS quite unexpectedly!

I was able to switch them out at only 100 miles at a Firestone dealership and got $400 credit for them. They sold me some Revo's for $850...so in the end it cost me only $450. I knew those crappy Dunlops would be a problem...and reading folks comments on this forum confirmed that.

My next car ('09 T4R?) I am not even sealing the deal unless they put better tires on it.
 
They are crappy tires. Good luck in getting the replaced. I just never rotated them, and helped them wear out faster.

I have contemplated destroying them myself. If Toyota doesn't replace them I will with Revos or Scorpions. Does anyone have any ideas on who I should complain to first??
 
Between two 4runners (04 and 06) I've put about 60K miles on the Dunlops. How on earth are you guys driving that you're having the traction control and ABS come on? Now, I know they're not the best tires going. In fact, I replaced them on my 04 with Cross Terrains at 45K, but they held up fine in all kinds of crappy conditions. If the letters are coming off that may be a tire defect that you could get replaced under tire warranty. Just my .02.

Dude I thought the same thing until last week I was driving down a street coming up on some traffic, hit the brakes firmly, the damn tires screeched, the ABS turned on and started to shutter the vehicle. I let off the brakes to stop it, then put them on again and the same thing happened! I live in the desert now (Las Vegas of all god-aweful places) and I was driving on dry as bone pavement. I have also noticed more screeching during turns (especially u-turns). I am from Washington state and I have driven cars over mountain passes without anything but AT tires in the dead of winter and not had any problems. These tires are just plain trash.

Good deal! I tried the same thing. Wanted to trade up the day after I bought the truck with a tire guy I've known for 20 yrs. I made his day. He didn't even want to look at them on the truck. He never laughed so hard when I told him they were Dunlops.
 
What a difference a year makes on the Dunlops.

First snowfall of the year my traction control was going crazy. The tires only have 13k miles on them. I actually thought they were fine last fall when they were new. Now I question whether or not I should get them replaced before the many trips up I-70 this winter.

I'm just driving normal. Like noted above, these Dunflops have deteriorated over time. The first sign of pulling into traffic with a little pep in wet conditions (lots of that this year) and they want to break loose. I throw her into 4x4 and away I go. You may not notice this if you have a V8 with fulltime 4wd. They aren't dangerous but I shouldn't have to use the good capabilities of the truck to compensate for the poor traction of the tires.

I agree that the 4x4 traction keeps the tires from spinning more often but you also have to take into consideration you are driving a rear-wheel drive vehicle with a great deal of power. Every rear wheel drive vehicle I have ever owned would spin the tires in wet conditions regardless of tire quality and power.

To be honest, I can't believe that these tires are as bad as the majority of people on here say they are. Just my $.02.
