Completed Fog Light Mod

Well, it's my car's one year birthday tomorrow and figured I'd do something to make it stand out.

Completed the fog light mod so that I can have the fog lights come on when I activate the switch without having the low beams on.

It's cool because I can have only the orange DRL's on, only the fog lights on, or both the DRL's and the fog lights on at the same time.

Followed J.A.'s instructions here:

http://www.top4runners.com/ja/2007/fogmod.html

Took about 5 minutes to do. I will post some pics later.

Cool, did mine a long time ago. I use it a lot...

:iagree: I followed J.A.'s write-up too. He's got a great site.

He sure does, are there any other simple modifications like this that require little $ yet make a noticeable difference.

I removed the running boards but didn't like seeing all the junk underneath the car (its not very clean looking at all) so I put those back on.

I have a valor exhaust tip.

I have a good stereo.

What else is there? Perhaps I'll make a new thread.

I finally got the fog light mod done, had to re-do the wire connectors so the male end would fit tighter. Went ahead and ordered another relay knowing I would break the tab off the stock one before I got the mod to work. Now, I'm eyeballin' the maplight mod, don't know if my few remaining brain cells will enable me to get through that one!:p

Ill be doing this mod for sure when I upgrade my fog bulbs. I have those little projector looking ones. Would prefer the bigger crystal lense type but oh well.

Now do I go HID or HIR?

That's funny as I would rather prefer the projector type headlamp due to that fact that there is no black border around the light...it fills in the entire lower bumper opening. What is the difference with hid or hir? Would it requree you to get an entire kit from xenon depot with ballasts and all or just the bulb itself? Furthernore, why do people like to 3000k in their fog lights?

...your runners are 2007...
The lights in most (if not all 4th Gens) will automatically turn off in 20 secs after locking the door even if you leave the switch on.
By doing that mod, will the low beam and fog still turn off automatically after locking??

HIR's are just a bulb. Its as close to HID as you can get in total lumens produced in just a halogen bulb. They are very bright and very white. 35 bucks a bulb "ish"

Not really wanting to figure out how to hide balast's when the bottom is so open down there.

Borgzman, the mod that I did will only let the fogs work when the ignition switch is on, unlike stock by just turning the stalk switch.I had to go back and re-read JA's post AFTER seeing how the lights didn't work with just the stalk-switch turned as stock.Fogs can't remain on unless ignition is on.

Mine is a 2003 and may have different connections.
I'm always leaving the low beam and fog On, specially in dark parking places. It will just turn off auto, just enough time for me to get in a building. After doing mods, like turning my fog as DRL..I lost that automatic feature.
IMO the computer think that I intentionally leave a light on.
But, I don't really know about newer 4th gens..if you are doing connections..jumpers if your auto off feature is not jammed. :)

I sure can't offer any advise on your 03. I'll probably end up melting my fuse box with what I've already done!

Killed key&seatbelt dinger-nannies, did 'em both, same day and 4R is still FLAME FREE! Before anyone asks, I'm never out of my seatbelt but twice a day.Pulling up to our security gate at work(gotta show badge in shirt pocket) and entering our 15mph neighborhood to check mailbox. The flashing light is plenty enough to tell me if someone is forgetting to buckle up.
