Compounded the s&(t out of my windows this morning!

So I've had a rediculous amount of acid rain on all of my glass for as long as Ove had my runner and tried numerous times to get it off with no luck. Today I'm happy to report I got all of it off in about 2 hours. I used 3m compound, orange chemical guys hex pad, and my Harbor Freight orbital buffer. I first used setting 1 to spread the compound and gen setting 6 with a good amount of pressure and got it all off. Got the corners with some 0000 steel wool and the same compound and it came out great! I just need to find some sealant to keep it looking this good and I'll be set! Here's the final product:

Man that looks awesome! I just spent an ungodly amount of time running a clay bar (2.5 hours for rear hatch alone) and now all I see is how bad my glass is.

Thanks! Yeah, I've done all that with no luck. I started yesterday with just the compound and steel wool which worked but took forever. On a whim this morning I whipped out the buffer. It really did all the work. I wasn't going to try it because several months ago I tried the same compound with a drill attachment buffing pad that didn't even make a noticeable difference. I think the key to it working his time was the orange pad and a higher speed buffer. I just ordered the Griots sealant and will try that out to keep the spots away for good.

Chemical guys has some great stuff, goes on/off easier than griots. Just my opinion. . I just used their m-sealer and sealer/wax combo. Came out great.

I've always wanted a buffer, this reminds me of how much easier my life would be. Maybe when the kids are In school and the wife works.

Just the regular 3m Rubbing Compound that you can get at any parts store. It's amazing that it didn't work worth a crap with the drill attachment but kicked asss with the orange pad and regular orbital buffer.

Hmm. Maybe I'll cancel my amazon order then and look into either Chemical Guys or the Adams stuff. Yeah man the buffer is he way to go. Makes life easier and just does a better job than by hand. Plus you can pick up the one at Harbor Freight for like $60 and, for me, works just as good as the Porter Cable. Just a lot louder. However, don't get the HF buffing pads. They suck. Stick with the hex pads from Chemical Guys. The orange HF pad I tried when buffing my wife's car flew into a million pieces all over the garage! Lol.

Also, here's the pad I used with the Harbor Freight Buffer. I think mine was the 6.5" that fit the HF backing plate perfectly but I'll have to confirm.
