ahhh The tires are finally wearing down, time for new ones come about december... going with the Cooper discoverer STT's again (GREAT tire!!) yet now going with the 35's (34.6/12.6/17)exactly...

few concerns... for those of you who have 35's please give some input!!

(I am getting the 1.5 BL for right before i do it,
I have my body mounts chopped so rubbing is not an issue)

where I am worried is

1. my UCA's... will i need to get different ones ? I have about a inch + or so depending on which side for clerance with the 33's betweem the tire and the UCA right now

2. Ive also read about re-gearing.. Is this necessary? pros/cons?

thanks !!

Just to add:

I would put on new UCA's. Not sure if you are running stock, but after 33's I think it is a good idea to get aftermarket arms to help with that size tire.

2. Re-gearing. I am a huge fan of this, in a situation where it is appropriate. Mechanically speaking, giving the engine the right "lever" makes all the difference in the world.

That said. From my understanding, these engines are pretty beefy compared to past versions and makes it less as a necessity.
When you had the 2nd gen 3.0 V6, you simply had to re-gear with large tires. This wasn't an option. That engine barely wanted to move with stock tires. Throw the tires on, drive for a bit and see. If you do notice that your RPM's are higher than you would like OR your truck is sluggish, then you may consider.

I would honestly take a look at where your RPM range moves. If these engines are beefy enough that you don't notice a HUGE RPM shift, then I wouldn't worry.

I'm running stock UCAs and gears with some pretty beefy 35s (don't know the exact dimensions of the mud grapplers). They rub at full lock from time to time, but you just kind of get used to not locking the wheels *quite* all the way. Not a big deal to me. Gears I don't feel I *need*, because the engine has lots of power. Mine is supercharged and V8, though. You didn't mention if you had a V6 or 8 but it says DT headers in your sig, so I assume V6? I think you'd probably want gears, just from the way my truck feels. I'm saving for new tires and gears right now. Again, not because I feel we need them, just that it would be less strain on the engine all the time. ARK brought up a good point with the brakes, too. It does take much more to stop the 35s from rolling. I got some good quality ceramic pads, and that helps a bit. Still doesn't stop like stock though, so your driving habits may need to change just a little bit to compensate. HTH.

I had a high preformance brake kit installed last may so im fine with the brakes...

I had a solution to the UCA, my friend has his trimmed up about a half an inch so it doesnt stick out as far, i might do that.. unless theres some huge benfit to buying aftrermarket ones, id really care not to spend another 400$,

and yes i have the V6 and its got alot of gidde-up from all the mods ive done to it.. do you think it would be fine runnin the 35's with out re gearing? how much is it gunna cost me to Re-gear?

My brother is rolling on 33's and it's slow enough with the V6... noticably slower than mine running 32's... a Cooper STT that weights a lot more than my tires as well.

Re-gearing would make the truck quite a bit peppier, most people don't do it cause it's expensive, but it's worth it... and helps the gas mileage as well.

anyone got pictures of their 35's ?? with a 1" or 1.5" BL id also like to see how much your body mounts are chopped, might need to do a bit more to mine
