Conical Lug Nuts vs Extended (ET) Conical Lug Nuts

Hi guys,

I just picked up a set of SCS Ray10 black wheels for my 06 4runner. One of the selling points of these wheels for me was that they are hubcentric. I don't like running aftermarket wheels with bores that are larger than the brake hub creating a need for hubcentric rings and increasing the risk of vibration out on the road.

I am going to order a set of black lugnuts. Before I do, I wanted to check in with you guys to see if there was any reason to go with the extended (ET) lug nuts over the standard lug nuts?

I think the only reason to run ET lug nuts is to get more thread engagement and typically isn't necessary if you don't run spacers. At the same time, it doesn't hurt to run the more expensive ET lug nuts but they don't offer any benefit if you already have adequate thread engagement.

Can someone confirm before I place an order?

For those that don't know the difference, the pic attached shows a couple of ET lug nuts and one standard lug nut.

How thick is your wheel where nut sit? is the hole long enough to receive the ET ? If a standard buldge nut ( like the center one) fits I wouldn't bother with the ET !

Some will argue that if you're hub centric you should not also be lug centric. Do those wheels have tapered seats or flat like stock wheels? And as mentioned above it really depends on how much thread engagement you get with the wheel mounting pad thickness to decide if you need ET or not.

This X3. Buy both types and return the ones you don't end up using.
