Considering a 92 4Runner

92 4Runner SR5

This is the vehicle I am considering. All the details are listed there. However from the same dealer I am considering this 96 Isuzu Rodeo LS

What are the problems with the 92's. I know that a lack of feeling of power is one and that is a major blow. Also what axles were included on the 92s? There are Dana 44s on the Isuzu Rodeo.

Im not sure about this but would the parts for the Isuzu be harder to find than the 4Runner?

That might be a factor in helping decide.

They are pretty much the same in size and but im not sure if hte proformance is any different... the parts depend on where you are located...

Either one would be a decent choice, but personally I would go for the 4runner. My main argument being simply its a toyota. Yes, they are not beasts when it comes to power, but I wouldnt buy an SUV for speed. They do just fine for everything else, they just dont accelerate as fast on the highway, other than that you'd probably not even notice. It depends on the tires too, when I got my 92 i had little tires on it and i was suprised at how well it accelerated. I then trough on bigger meaty tires and that slowed it down. As far as the isuzu. They are pretty decent vehicles, but defenitely do not offer the same support/availability as a toyota and I find they are more similar to a pathfinder (a little heavier and bigger/boxier) but they are still decent. It all depends on what you plan on using it for, but I would think toyota would be more problem free and an easier fix if something broke. Keep in mind toyotas are very reliable and do not break easily, im not as familiar with the reliability of an isuzu. Also, that 4runner has very low mileage = ridiculously long life/high resale. The isuzu has a bit more and Im not sure if their engines are known for going as long as a toyota.

I'd go for the 4Runner. Ok, it looks almost exactly like my '90, so I'm a little prejudiced.

I bought my '90 new. A guy a work with bought a new Rodeo in 96 or 97, I forget exactly when. I'm still driving my 4Runner. He got rid of the Rodeo a couple of years ago when it started having multiple problems. He driving a Rav4 now.
