Considering a bull bar, Chrome or black?

Hey guys, im considering buying the bull bar on ebay but im not sure what style to get for my white runner. Black or chrome...Im really only buying it to mount hellas on cause they look sweet.

Has anyone seen a small winch mounted to these?

Bull bar's like that are cosmetic only, not structural. There is no way you could mount a winch to that and not have it torn off the nose of your truck IMO, I'd be surprised if it could even support the weight of the winch.

Yeah, you definitely don't want to mount a winch to one of those. They are flimsy and will bend relatively easily. In fact, many people have sustained more damage in front-end crashes than they would have if they didn't have the bullbar. That's because the bullbars will fold and bend right into the hood/radiator/etc. and mangle everthing.

I say don't waste your money on that if you are already thinking of mounting a winch. Do it right the first time - save up a little more and get a functional steel bumper that will actually protect you and your truck in an impact and also support a winch. Check out ARB, CBI, Outdoorlogic, Shockworks, and TJM for cool plate style bumpers. Addicted Offroad, 4xInnovations, Trail Gear, are some good tube style bumper options.

I'll say black because I hate chrome, but chrome may look better. People don't really like the bull bars & brush guards because of the comments mentioned above. If you like it go for it. A steel bumper is a bit more expensive than most people want to spend, but really the only way to utilize a winch. It's all up to you.

The above is all true. I could bend the brackets on my bull bar just by ramming my 135 lbs into it if I wanted. I got it simply for the look. A winch would tear it apart. But if you get one, go black like mine

I think Chrome would look best on your rig....just because of the white you have going on. Black would look great on a Black rig like 1985Taylor1925's.

X2 on the black, the chome will rust a lot quicker and is harder to touch up.

However as a former still halfway brush guard owner i'd have agree with the above saying save the money. I kinda got sick of mine after seeing all the other goodies i could of got with the $250 something i spent on it. but yes its your truck don't let me tell you what to do to it
