Considering black rhino wheels

Anyone have experience w/ black rhino rims? Looking at possibly the abrams, armory, or reno red (ours is Barcelona red). We do light offroading on logging roads, mountain terrain when we visit home, and just the beaten path, nothing crazy but want something that looks good and functional as well as a quality product.

Also, is it better to downsize wheel to 17" and larger tires or still good with 20" and slightly smaller?

Considering the Black Rhino Abram, Reno (red), or Armory. Also considering the TRD bronze edition because it looks dope as hell!

I can see that as they look pretty damn solid. How much additional weight are they from your current setup?

I suppose not too concerned with heavy as I plan in the future to add a ton of weight anyways: front and rear steel, roof rack, stuff in the back, 3 pass and a dog, plus considering building a offroad trailer as well. MPG, gone ^.^

The weight from your armor and overland gear will add up, but wheels/tires are unsprung weight so you'll feel this weight in your driving - acceleration and braking - more, relative to the weight added, than the armor. That said, BR and Method wheels are only 5lbs heavier than the TRD wheels.

I have run the Black Rhino's on my ZJ's for years and love them. I now have the Black Rhino Armory wheels on my 19 TRD Premium. I purchased them at 2k miles from Les Schwab who put the factory tires back on. I thought they were 8" wide and didn't realize they installed 8" wide tires on 9" wide rims. It worked but I felt unsafe and was very disappointed with Schwab. When looking for more aggressive tread this Spring @ 6500 miles Discount wouldn't even consider putting 265-70-R17 tires on them due to safety issues. (Schwab, no problem.) I had to step up to 270-70-R17 which don't have a very large selection to choose from. I ended up with BFG KO2's from Discount which rub slightly while at full lock in reverse, but not a problem. The look is awesome and I feel the weight more from the tires than the wheels. Off road I don't notice the difference and milage hasn't seem to suffer yet. I certainly get a lot of complements on the setup.

I run the 17x9 -12mm Warlords. They are heavy and I've had trouble balancing them out (with stock tires and the upgrades). Since they aren't hub centric I used hub rings which greatly improved the ability to keep them in balance.

I'm considering going with Fuel wheels next since they are 9 lbs lighter per wheel and have the correct hub bore.

Did you put 20" wheels on your 4Runner because unless you have the Limited, the 4Runner only came with 17" wheels.

I would always want 17 over 20'' for any off-roading. Rides better and less rim dings.

Sorry had the numbers backwards. Had discount rotate for me and they kept saying I had 20”. Right now think my toss up is between the black rhino armory, SCS Ray, or new TRD bronze. Need to research tire sizes as well.

Have a 19 Limited that I sold the 20s off of. I run Black Rhino Sierras, 17x9. Have BFG KO2 275 70's on them. Love them, love the look, zero balance problems.
