considering purchase of 2004 SR5 Sport 4WD

Hi all,

Looking at a 2004 SR5 Sport V6 4WD at a dealer tomorrow. 151k miles. Asking over $10k in Georgia but I think they will go to $9k or ever lower as they stated to me they will send it to an auction soon even though it is a fresh trade in. Carfax looks okay, several owners but no mishaps or major service problems. There are only a couple of records on the Toyota Owners site - again, nothing major.

Anything I should look for in particular when going over the vehicle tomorrow morning? They stated to me it does have a check engine light on but they said they will resolve it before any purchase is made. Obviously this is a bit concerning.

Try to get the info on the old owner, since it was a trade-in they should have it. Maybe the old owner had some issues (head gasket) that they didn't want to mess with, so they traded it in. Is this a reputable dealer? Just be sure to be very thorough checking it out, as you would with any used car. Try to get them to throw in a short warranty. I typically don't trust small dealers and would rather buy off an individual, so I'd try my best to contact the previous owner. Do you have a link to the car?

I bought my 2004 from a reputable Toyota dealer locally & have been extremely happy with it. Like the previous post stated make sure to ask for records & get a good history on the vehicle prior to purchase. I bought my 2004 Sr5 4WD with 159,000 miles & now have 171,000 without ANY issues, just regular maintenance. i always buy from a reputable dealer & not some joe schmo on the side of the road I never heard of. Check the records, drive it 7 ask questions it might just be a great vehicle for you for many miles/years down the road. 4Runners go the distance & I'm a believer of that since mine has 171K & drives like new each & everyday. LOVE IT!
