ConsoleVault users--rerouting 12v?

I have the console vault and would like to use the 12V located inside without having to leave the vault open and without modifying the vault. Has anyone routed the 12V outlet under the shifter area to make that 12V available for use? I'm concerned about how much room there is under there. I am using the center dash 12V for a dash cam, and would prefer to power the dash cam using this center arm rest 12V.

Don't have a ConsoleVault, but I do have a dash cam and power it through the center console 12V.

Just throwing this out there but, If I needed to relocate it I would consider using the USB I installed to the lower left of the steering wheel. I think it might have cost about $10 on Amazon IIRC?

I recently found a usb and socket in the glove compartment, i will be getting the console vault now after finding those and using the console power for my cb which is fastened to the back of the console under the vents

12Bravo4R Are you talking changing the power from 12V cigarette lighter style to USB? I had also considered doing the Add-a-Fuse route but i suck with electronics lol

LTDBLKTRD unfortunately, no 12V in the glove for me!

I have the console vault as well and wondering what to do with that outlet. I think I understand what you mean. The 12v socket in there is worthless there because it can't be used because I keep the vault locked. I do have a blank just in front of that console. I thought of just taking the wires from the socket and attaching those to a USB outlet in the blank. I also thought of just a relocation of that same 12v socket anywhere else on the center console.

Has anyone put that 12v socket where my finger is pointing?

It will be less work, and a better result, to power the dash cam with an add a fuse.

If you want a 12v power outlet it will be easier and less work to just install a new one from an add a fuse

I drilled a small hole in the console vault and added a rubber grommet to pass cords through. Ill grab a picture this morning. It works well.

In the center console under the radio is a knock out with the aux audio port. I pooped that out and just let it lay behind the console. I added a cable and a round audio jack and I drilled and mounted it next to the knock out.

Then I ran a wire from the battery (fused) through the firewall to to a dual usb socket that fits the knock out.

I can still use the aux audio if needed and I have an always on set of usb ports to keep my crap charged.

I ignore the ports in my console vault...... I'll try to snap a picture later today.

You can do something simple like this to keep functionality.

I cut a slot when the coin holder is.
