Another thought...
coolpop - You know this has been a difficult choice between the two tires. Discount Tire said the Yoko's are better than the Continentals, but if you check their website out it's clearly the Continentals that are better. Then if you check Tire Rack it says the Continentals are also better, but in person people will tell you the Yoko's are better???
Their complaint is that the Yoko's are more similar to the Mich CT SUV tires I have and the Continental's are not.
The rolling resistance between the two is a difference. The Continental tires have more resistance than the Yoko's so gas mileage will be better with Yoko's. Mich and Yoko's have same rolling resistance.
How about anyone else, are you torn between both tires?

I've looked at them and was shocked that Discount Tire turned gave Consumer Reports the thumbs down on the tire ratings. Mainly because they were not testing with a 4Runner. Consumer Reports did rate the Continental very well and that's what made my mind up at first to go with them, then Discount Tire gave the thums down and totally confused me!
I still think I may go with Continental. Are those Yoko's directional? Can they only be rotated front to back and not the X rotation? Seems I though they were, but I could be wrong. I know the continentals can be rotated side to side and that's what I want for better wear.

Discount Tire has a killer deal on the Continentals I like. $75 Visa gift card with 4 tire purchase and if you sign up for DT credit card you'll get another $50 back... That's awesome! I also have a $200 credit since my Michelins did not meet the 65,000 mile warranty. I'm putting the "T" rated Continentals on my 4Runner next week. The Michelins are only "S" rated.

How much did u pay? i payed $700 out the door at townfair tire. they matched internet prices and they did the mounting/balance/alignment.
the price they matched was from treadepot.com ..... cheaper than tirerack !

Actually if there was no credit issued for my Mich CT SUV tires not meeting the 65,000 mile warranty it would have been $762 out the door, which included the lifetime flat fix, rotation and TPMS rebuild.
Now you will need to figure in the Continental 4 tire purchase Visa gift card of $75.00 AND if you purchased the tires on a new Discount Tire card you would get an extra $50 back. So I was able to take $125 off. Really though you'll be getting these back as Visa gift cards and not off the total price out the door.
I had that deal with the Visa gift cards coming back to me AND a $200 credit for the Mich CT SUV tires not meeting the 65,000 mile warranty. So really I was able to walk out the door paying $562.00 and I'm now waiting on the Visa cards to arrive.
They're a nice tire, but in person Discount Tire and even some Toyota dealerships will push the Yoko Geolander G051(correct name???) on you in place os the Continental. The reviews on the Geolander vs the CrossContact LX all over the web point to the CrossContacts leading the pack, even on Consumer Reports, HOWEVER the Geolanders have many more reviews, double the amount of the CrossContacts.
I've only had them less than 100 miles, but they do seem to ride a little more rough than the Mich CT SUV "S" rated tires. The Continentals I bought were "T" speed rated, so a little more stiff. No big deal though, I still like the way they look and ride thus far. I have a 30 day return warranty if I don't like them.

TPMS Rebuild?
What's the deal with this anyway? I have had the tires repaired and/or replaced without this. I have had no issues.
There was a high quoted of $26.00 PER TIRE for a rebuild AND low of $6.00 per tire for the rebuild at America Tires.
Is this needed or is it a money making deal?

They replace a rubber washer and I think that may be it other than labor!! I was told it would have been about $9/tire, but they messed up and thought I had chrome valves and only charged me a total of $9 for 4 tires so I did skip an expense there!
I do know that if the washer starts to go bad your TPMS will turn on and I think they'll need to dismount the tires to fix it. I'm not 100% for sure if the rubber washer is on the inside or out though.
Tires are still doing well! Ride very good in rain and dry weather. Low road noise and seem to be just fine.

for me they just replaced the valve cores with titanium ones ... so they say... maybe thats the same as rebuilding the TPMS ......
