Convert XM Radio to Sirius?

They are the same company but still very different - separate call centers for billing, some different channels, etc. I find that I like some of the Sirius channels better, but I'm stuck with XM. You can add the best of Sirius to your XM radio though if you are looking for certain channels (like Howard).
Yeah they are different technologies that XM and Sirius use that's why they still offer both. Where I live, I guess the XM satellite coverage is poor because it cuts in and out a lot. However, I've had Sirius in my last car and it worked great.
So that brings me here looking for a solution to taking the factory XM out and changing to Sirius with the factory stereo. I've found out that Sirius has a module to you get for Toyota's 2006+ to convert from the XM to Sirius. It's called Toyota Compatible SiriusConnect Interface. Part # TOY-SC1 price is a little high, $119 cdn and then you still have to get the SiriusConnect Vehicle Universal Tuner for $59 cdn. I really want some kind of satellite radio mostly because I live on an island off the east coast of Canada and we only have a couple of radio stations that work only in a few areas. It's worth the extra cash to get it working.
I've ordered both and I hope to have them in a week or so. I do have to add the Sirius antenna the module won't work off the XM antenna.
Does anyone know how to take apart the fin antenna, I was hoping I could place the Sirius antenna inside of it.

digimo, did you manage to make the switch from XM to Sirius? I'd like to do the same with my 2011 Trail Edition in order to get CBC when on long trips into the USA.

I am in the same situation. I already had a Sirius plan/radio then with new runner have xm. I cannot live without CBC on road trips!!!

I tried to make the switch from my Sirius contract to XM that came with my 4R. what a hassle. They are the same company but after 3+ years, they still dont know how to combine accounts. It took me 3 hours for them to say sorry cant do, but here's 3 more months of free service. I have a lifetime Sirius contract. I love my satellite radio but hate XM/Sirius as a company.

I had to cancel my Sirius and reup with XM but they do have a package that lets you get channels from both. Think is was called Best of Sirius or something. The main thing I wanted was Stern. But I did not have lifetime Sirius so that may be different. And agree - dealing with 'Sally' in India was no fun at all.

Been a Sirius owner for yrs. The stand alone XM receiver heads use the same plug for the antennas of the Sirius. So the built in antenna in the Toyota might have the same plug on it.
I just took delivery of my 2011 TE and tossed in the stand alone Sirius with its own antenna for the drive home from the dealer. But then noticed the XM was live (Demo I am sure).

there is absolutely no difference in service now it took about 2 years but the companies have now completely merged into one service same building, same channel numbers and on any new product interchangeable parts nothing new to be made will say sirius or xm all is now sirius xm the one company name and all bills even the ones that come to welcome you for buying a new toyota which says xm on the radio will say sirius on the bill as they have 100% acquired xm.

Platinumb, apparently Sirius and XM have merged in the USA, but not in Canada, so there's still no Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on XM, which is a deal-breaker for me and some other Canadians.
I've e-mailed XM Canada a couple of times, but just got form letters in return. I'm trying to avoid spending hundreds on a new Sirius-ready head unit and antenna only to find that both Canadian systems suddenly carry the CBC feeds.
