Converting to HID Headlights and Fogs

What do I need? I plan on ordering from DDM Tuning, but can't seem to figure out what the headlights are and what the fogs are.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The OM also is a good place to look. But are you looking for bulb style or temperature? Stock halogens are in the 3500K range. If you go to a higher temp (cooler; remember we're talkin' Kelvin) headlight bulb you'll begin to lose useable light around 5000K. But you can make up for that with lower temp (warmer) fogs. Some folks like 3000K for their fogs. I go lower with Hella Optilux XY at 2500K. Then there are the panty-waisted fashion nuts that want their fogs to match their "bust-my-blazing-55w-HIDS-with-a-baseball-bat" 6000K or higher headlights (these are the folks that complain that they can't see worth chit at night in rain or fog).

Thanks for the info nuke. I'm not sure what I'm going to get yet actually. I like the bright white on the hid headlights, but I'm with you I think id like to go with a warmer temp on the fogs so they would be useful.

Other question is what are the actual bulbs used? I seem to be finding conflicting information.

Headlights, Lows: H11's, 55W 5000K
Fogs: 9006, 35w, 3500K

Will I need the Harness, Error Code Eliminator, Adapter Cables or Mounting Brackets?

Thanks again, the last time I did this on my last car everything seemed a bit more straight forward.

By the way, I have the projector headlights and normal fogs, if that makes any difference.
 
You should not need the error code eliminator.

Why 55 watt? Most people go 35 watt. 55 watt is a lot for a non retrofitted housing.

dont know much about it but i want to do both as well. i was looking at gothid.com

Just a few things I had seen in previous topics led me to believe that going with 55W was the thing to do when you had the projector headlights. Maybe I misunderstood. I really don't care either way to be honest.

Well, I don't something that's going to blind people. I like the look of OEM HIDs that are a crisp white light, with just a hint of blue, not much blue though, then they just look like cheap rice rocket lights.
 
Yeah. I hear ya. It's hard to find that exact color. Remember if you go with a 55 watt kit they tend to wash out some of the color.

Confirmed: 9006 bulb for the fogs.

I believe your choice of 3500K is equivalent to the warmth of the stock bulb. I'd suggest a 3000K bulb to offset your 5000k or 6000k HID's if you don't want to go as yellow as I have with the 2500K. Also, if you drive in any really nasty stuff at night you'll want to do the mod that overides the OE wiring allowing you to run the fog lights with the headlights off.

I think I'll go with the 35w 6000K headlights and the 35w 3000K fogs. I like that the more yellow fogs seem a bit more off road-ish.

I'm not doing anything with the highs as my night driving is mostly city and I don't even have them on and if I do, it's for a short period of time and that's not good for HIDs.

Okay, after a few more searches, I went with the DDM kit and I did the following:

H/L Low Beam: H11's, 35w 5000K
Fogs: 9006's, 35w 3000K - 3500 was not an option

I went with 5000 because from what I read the 6000's had more blue than I wanted.

Hope I like them, but at least with DDM stuff if I don't like it, I'm not out a ton of money.

I'll post up some pics when I get them in and installed.

You are right about the money. Also it only costs about $15 for a new set of bulbs. So if you don't like that color you can get new ones for pretty cheap.
 
Any other option for fogs besides hids?

Btw I have ddm hids 35w 4500k, I wanted the pure white and I love my purchase so far.
