Convex rear view mirror part #

I want to add a couple of the cargo area mirrors that come in the non-JBL Synthesis SR5. I searched and read through several threads and decided that I want them but didn't see part numbers or the official name to plug in at partznet.com.

Thanks.

When I heard about that a couple years ago, I thought it would be great. The price I heard was not worth it.

They don't work worth a crap in my opinion. They show the lane next to you instead of what is directly behind you.

That's the intent. It's suppose to help you see around the sides, such as when backing out of 90* parking stalls to see if vehicles are approaching down the aisle.

If interested, I'm looking for the D pillar grill and speaker brackets. If you'd be up for a swap, send a PM.

Thanks uneek, I'd been wondering what those things actually did. RickC is right they don't work worth a darn for seeing what's behind you....never dawned on me to use them for backing out at the market, etc.

I was looking to add these cargo area mirrors as well to my Limited to help assist with lining up my trailer hitch ball with the trailer reciever when hooking it up alone. I actually think my wife may have ordered these for an x-mas gift (it was on my x-mas list anyways). now it sounds like they might not even help with this?

I remember test driving a Sport that had these and I thought I recalled being able to see the bumper and a short distance out from the bumper as well that would help with backing up to teh trailer receiver when solo?

Has anyone had any experience or luck using these mirrors for this purpose?

Ridger, I have not been able to use them for that purpose and I pull a trailer all the time. The mirrors do a good job of showing what is beside you but not behind you. If you need something like what you are talking about, I would look into an aftermarket backup camera.

Maybe something like this: Amazon.com: Rear View Heated Backup Camera System for RV, TRUCK, BUS: Automotive

or: Visor-View Backup Cameras, Rear View Camera Systems, GPS Tracking

or: Amazon.com: 7" Tft Lcd Color Rear View Backup Camera System with Audio: Electronics

or: Backup Camera System | Rear View Backup Camera | RearViewSafety.com

just to list a few.

Crap! My wife's gonna be ticked I hadn't found this out BEFORE asking for them for X-mas. Hopefully they can be returned then, because they're not cheap.

Well.... thanks for the info Rick. Now I need to focus my efforts into one of these camera's or the like. I appreciate the links. The postive side being that as long as they can be returned... I can put that money toward a camera maybe.

Sorry I don't have a part number for ya, I just saw Aaron (partznet) and told me they are $34 each. It looks like they just snap on. Hopes this helps!
