Ok...I saw one of these for sale in a catalog and figured they would end up doing more damage than good. This only heats up your washer fluid, and to the best of my knowledge you can not just spray your washer fluid without your wipers activating. You can spray your 'hot' fluid but then your wipers 'scratch' across all the snow and ice destroying the blades, until it actually melts. If you could spray w/o the wipe it would be great.

That seems silly. Normal de-icer fluid takes care of ice just fine, and I hope you dont have any cracks on your windshield. Id be afraid of hitting a -10 degree windshield with140+ water.

I'd like to see more tests and reviews instead of finding out it's an invention with good intentions but has a bad side effect.
If it's below zero and 140 degree fluid hits the windshield it may crack,maybe not the first time or 5th time but there is a risk since I've seen windshields crack just from the defroster heat on them.

I use a deicer fluid in the washer resevoir and it works well enough along with the defroster plus I rain-x my windshield and it keeps frost from sticking too hard.
