Thought it would be interesting to show what happens inside your radiator if you just give your truck some neglect. Bought my '00 SR5 at 203xxx and have been slowly turning over fluids and just finished with the radiator flush. Took some samples as I went. Enjoy.

How the hell do you get black coolant? I've seen coolant systems (and owned them) that don't get touched for over 200k miles that are still green or red. Hell the stuff in dads bronco was 20yrs old when we changed it and even it was still green.

I had a big scare a few months back, I read online that when the toyota red coolant and the prestone green coolant mix they form sludge. I had to drain my radiator to shorten the hose coming off of it after my body lift, and what came out was brownish yellow. I basically couldnt tell what color it was. so after stressing for a bit I found out that the new prestone is compatible with toyota red. I flushed the system anyways and use the prestone green.

I took out my thermostat and reinstalled the housing so i could get continuous flow and turned on the heat to flush out the heater core. I follow a guy on youtube, Chrisfix, calls it the super flush. After today, I'm a believer. As to why it's so dark, i couldn't tell you. I'm just glad that mess is out.
