Coolant smell from the Radiator

Hey guys,

I hope you can help... may be it's nothing but a couple of weeks ago I was checking the engine compartment and I noticed the smell of coolant coming from the right side of the radiator apposite side of the radiator cap. I checked everywhere but could see any leaks. I checked the coolant level and it is fine and also checked all the hoses and connectors. Before I take it in for a checkup I wanted to get some visual or physical evidence because I know what the stealer's response is going to be "No problem found". Coolant smells scare me(previous bad experience) as I live in Minnesota and the winter's are harsh. Is there an easy way to find out if there are any leaks without taking the whole thing apart. I have a 2005 SR5 4x4 with only 13K miles. Has anyone else noticed this situation with their 4Runners... do I need to worry. Thanks.

Let the Stealer do a pressure test.

Well mine was overfilled when I purchased it. The overflow reservoir was pissing fluid out over the front of the radiator during the first week of purchase. I siphoned some out went along my merry way.

Mine has had the same smell since new and I now have 33K.

Never had a leak or drip or loss of coolant.

I think that when we turn it off the recovery tank vents slightly as it accepts the overflow from the radiator.

Yea. i remember mine had a slight smell as well for the first few 1k miles. It eventually went away and havent noticed it since.

Thanks guys for your responses. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on this for a while. I appreciate your input... If I find out something new, I'll let you know.
