Cooper A/T3 tire size on stock suspension

I've made up my mind that the next set of tires I buy will be Cooper A/T3's as everyone who has them seems to like them and they are a decent priced tire.

After I get my 4runner paid off -2 years from now, I plan on doing the Daystar lift but until then, what size tire should I get, stock 265/65-17 or 265/70-17.

I am getting conflicting info about whether or not there will be rubbing with the stock suspension and a 265/70-17 tire.

I would like the 265/70-17's as it would do slightly better on the highway for gas and also as a small bonus, they are about $10/tire less than 265/65-17's, but I definitely don't want rubbing. I'm not worried about the speedo/odometer being slightly off as my speedo already reads very slightly high compared to GPS speed.

Should I just get the stock size to be safe? BTW, each are on sale at Farm and Fleet if anyone lives in WI. 265/70 @ $152 each and 265/65 @ $162 each

Go with the upsized 265/70s! You won't have much rubbing (if any) and it does give you a modest 1/2" lift...you will lose about 1-2 mpg with the larger tires though...but you'll be rewarded with better ground clearance, better looks, and you'll need to adjust about 6% increase on your speedo (at 60mph you'll be traveling 62-63mph) and it compounds the faster you go...

I have the 265/70/17. I ran them on stock suspension for a while and had no running whatsoever. Stock sport wheels FYI. Using a GPS, my speedo is barely off.

I say if you can squeeze into your budget a daystar lift, definitely worth it!
I know I don't have a 17" wheel, but below i'm running Daystar 2.5/1.5 along with Cooper Discoverer A/T3's 265/65R18

I like'd them a lot more with the white letters out.

Looks good. I wish I could swing the lift but it just isn't going to happen since the 4Runner is my DD and I'm making payments on it. I also own a supercharged Mustang Cobra that I'm adding an intercooler to and getting retuned so the car money is pretty tight.

Besides that, I already have to lie to my girlfriend about how much money I spend on my vehicles lol.
