Gen 5 Tire Size

I saw a 2018 Limited 4WD, V6, and it has R20 Wheels, apparently OEM. Does anyone know if Gen 5's from around the same model ever had any other tire sizes? My old '04 V6 is running 265/65 R17's, and I really like that size.

Short answer probably yes. Lug pattern same. Make sure brake rotors clear the smaller 17" wheel.
Verify set back of wheels are same.
I agree more sidewall rubber less likely to get pinched when hitting pothole and passing hit to wheel causing wheel rim damage.
Lots of offroad rigs even use 15" wheels with very large tires.
You will probably notice softer ride too.
Look in classifieds for stock take off wheels, lots of runner owners change away fron stock.
I picked up spare set of 4 take off SR5 wheels for $100.
Both myself and daughter have SR5s. Thinking of replacing our steel spare tire wheels on both.

Not only that, fair to say that twenty-inch tires (like Limited trim typically has) are more expensive, don't last as long, and there are not as many choices when you are buying tires.

Costco for Example... I put in 17" tires for a 4Runner and they offer 13 possible tires. $187-$305, warrantied life from 60K to 75K miles.

I put in 20" tires for a 4Runner and only 7 choices. $250-$307 each in my area, warrantied life from 60K to 75K miles.

In my experience it is highly unlikely that such tires will come anywhere close to their alleged warranty lifespan, but so long as one follows the terms of the warranty, there is a proration based on that warrantied lifespan when buying a new set.

We had a first-gen Sequoia and even with 80K warranty lifespan tires, I don't think we ever got more than 40K or 45K miles out of a set, no offroading. But we did get a few 40-50% off replacement sets of tires from Costco.
