I just put a set of these on this week, 265/70/17's. Less than 100 miles on them so far, so take this with a big grain-of-salt, but they seem just fine for daily driving. Smooth going on the highway, no problems.
I cannot yet speak to them in rain, snow, or off-road, but I chose them because they seems well reviewed in light snow/ice, which is what I have to deal with during winter travel.

Running them on a 5th Gen. Load Range C. Will find out soon enough how they perform in the snow...
That seems reasonable. I was getting quoted $1000-1100 for 4 out the door, no mount/balance. But then I'm in AK, so stuff is inflated. I lucked out and found a set of 4 with 3 months of use for $180 on craigslist.
Haven't mounted them yet. Read the Overland Journals review of AT tires, that is what convinced me to get the AT3.

I've been running them (265/75R16 load C) for a couple of months now. As long as you have the tire pressure right, they have very nice road manners. Can't speak to their offroad performance first-hand yet, but the reviews were very favorable.
If you get them, give them about 100 miles or so to wear the fine corners off before you judge them on road too much. Mine felt very mushy until they wore in and I got the pressure right.

I bought these 265/75/ 16s AT3's the other week. I bought mine off amazon because of the free shipping and I was able to redeem $250 in amazon gift cards form one of my credit card points. I went with the 4 ply because I commute about 300-400 a week due to work and family stuff. They ride great! Not loud at all. Only had them on the pavement so far but they handle great.
For what its worth, heres an article on the AT3's from the expo website.
Discount Tire's ebay store has a good deal on them and if you take that price into a discount tire store, the store will probably beat it.
I had my tires delivered to the shop that was going to mount and balance them for $120 using the Hunter Force balancing machine.

Out of curiosity, what do you have your pressure at? I set mine to 35 out of habit, but I'd love to hear if you've dialed in somewhere else.

I'm on my second set. Excellent tires. Never been worried about being stuck because of them. They go through mud, sand, and snow/ice no problem. No experience on rocks or anything because I live in the south. Really quiet on the highway, I don't even notice them and handle hydroplaning in the rain well. I got my first set and had them mounted and balanced for just under $700.

If they are the LT versions (load range C) that is a good price. If they are the P/SUV tires (standard load range) that is a pretty typical price.
I have run LT265/75-16 AT3s (load range C) for 2 1/2 years, 46K miles on my 3rd gen. I have been very happy with them. They still have almost 1/4" of tread left (another 10K miles probably) but I'm anxious for some new ones. I have run over 500 miles of midwest Forest Service roads with them - lots of sharp limestone, ledge rock, and thorns. I've never had a flat (but people with me have), but they are pretty chipped up from the abuse. They are great in the snow, and on wet roads they are unbelievable. I ran down the highway about a month ago in a very heavy rain at 70 MPH with no hydroplaning at all.
As noted in the link above, Overland Journal chose them as the Editor's Choice and the Value Award in their AT tire test (other tires were BFG AT KO, Dick Cepek Fun Country, Falken Wild Peak A/T, General Grabber AT2, Goodyear Wranger All-Terrain Adventure, and Toyo Open Country II). They said 'The Cooper Discoverer AT3 was the overwhelming winner and a genuine value'. Also, 'The AT3 demonstrated superior ride quality, NVH, and skid pad handling; it cannot be overstated how well these tires perform overall on pavement'. It had the fastest times on the 90 deg wet turn (55 MPH - BFG AT did it at 32 MPH), the dirt oval (75 MPH! - 15% faster than the 2nd rated tire), and was one of three to successfully climb a 38 deg granite slab. Testing was done by a professional test driver who tests tires for Toyota (Tacoma and FJ), so it was a real, scientific test, with instruments (not a 'we liked this one best because' test). The article is definitely worth the price of the magazine ($12 at Barnes and Noble, Summer 2014).
I run mine at 40 PSI. That's where they get the best mileage. I gave $700 out the door (mounted, balanced, tax) at Orscheln farm supply. They have a buy 3, get one free sale about 4 times a year. The next one starts Sept 16 and I plan to replace mine then.

What size are you trying to get? I know if you get too far from OEM (265/70r16), some sites will say they don't fit. That's just to keep normal people (who only want the OEM size) from getting wrong sizes, obviously you know better if you're upsizing.
i just paid just a bout 700 for a set of firestone destination at's. i was between the coopers and the firestone and they where both about the same price at every shop i went too.

I have the Firestone Destination AT's on my '89. They were a good economical choice at the time I bought them. No complaints but the Cooper AT3's on my 2000 are a much nicer tire over all. They are much quieter on the road. OP, check out Home - Discount Tire Direct before you buy. If they are running a sale you might get them a lot cheaper.
I just looked them up. Free shipping $148 per tire and $100 in rebates if you buy four. My local tire shop charged me $100 to mount my four tires.

Yeah amazon said the same thing when I bought mine because thats not the stock size. I do have a 2" lift but I would imagine that numerous people on here run the same size with no lift. Its not much of a larger tire than stock.
I am running 265/75/16's now with no lift. A little rub on hard turns in reverse only, but no problems. Here is the quote my tire guy offered (sound like the tires are a deal).

I have them, haven't wheeled, but they're great in winter and were fine in the mud the few times I had them in it. Fairly quiet on road, not overly aggressive lugs.
265/70/16 here, wanting 75s but only a year old. Need to check load range, but dealer had them put on before I bought it, so guessing SUV tires.

I've had my at3's for about 9k miles. they wear like steel. they look brand new its awesome. they're garbage in really sludgy mud. but all A/T tire is. Great in ice/snow and rainy season. I got 4 285/75/16 for 750 and didn't pay for mount or balance. I know a guy. don't regret it at all. Would buy again. They might of sold me on cooper mud terrain tires once these wear in about 4-5 years.
