Cornfed vs Daystar and tires

I have a 2007 Limited V8 and wanted to get the Cornfed 3/2 simply because I am going to keep X-REAS in place but I wanted a larger lift than the Daystar 2.5. It Seems like a lot of people on here run the Daystar system though... Any reason why?

And what would be the best AT tires to run on the Cornfed system?

I am putting the daystar 2.5/1.5 on my v8 runner tomorrow, from what i have read everyone is getting 3" out of the 2.5/1.5 kit, i will measure tomorrow before and after and tell u wat i end up with....plus daystar is $143 on amazon :)

from my reading reviews if your going to be on road 99% of the time with minimal MUD off road go with BFG's A/T's alot of perople are getting 60K plus miles on a set. They dont clean out very well in the mud, but do fine everywhere else

Price mainly. I love my Hankook DynaPro ATM's for an AT tire. They are great on road and off. If you want an AT tire better suited for off road, but still real good on road, the Goodyear Duratrac's are the way to go. Many have switched to them from various AT tires and have nothing but positive things to say from what I hear. A tire like the RF10's will do a little better on road but sacrifice off road. The Duratracs are the opposite.
 
I love my cornfed, but installation is allot easier with the daystar. And at the end of the day I guess the price is more appealing for what essentially are some round pucks and spacers for the rear. Also there is the heard mentality on forums meaning once something does something or uses a particular brand you tend to see others following suit. That typically is a good think as the good products tend to be those and the bad products are the one's you don't see to often.

I agree, I am running bfgs and they are a great mannered street tire and do well and the snow and decent offroad. Check out craigslist, thats were I found mine for like half price.

Daystar says this is the kit for the FJ but the FJ and runner have the same suspention set up. This kit is a topout spacer kit only, much easier to install. The kit daystar says is for the 4runner has a preload and a topout for the front and spacers for the rear. requires more to install, ie taking strut assembly apart and having to recompress the springs. you can get this kit here....

it doesn't even give the lift size on that first item page, and neither say anything about rear spacers:cry2: so you're sure the first link is the 2.5/1.5 lift?

I did the Daystar because I saw pictures of some nice 4Rs on the lift post and tire post. I went with the BFG's AT KO's over the Nitto TG b/c they were rated better on the tread life. Overall I'm very pleased with the results...I may go with the TJ coils later. Good luck.

what kit did u use?
 
Terra Graps

I went with the full FJ set up with daystars and Nitto terra grapplers. Nittos are size 265/70/17 and I love them so far, especially for half the price of the bfg's ($130). They are quiet on the road and I haven't gotten stuck yet!

Have you had any problems using the FJ front topout spacer on your Runner? I've heard that there's potential for it to cause suspension issues. I've decided that I definitely want a Daystar 2.5/1.5 but I'm not sure which kit to get. I'm going to have to pay someone for the install since I don't believe I have the experience, let alone the equipment to install it myself. I was going to just get the 4Runner kit, but like you said the cost is greater for install.
