Correct Hayden for Tranny

I did a search on Hayden before writing this so please don;t flame me for my question.

Is the Hayden 1678 the correct model for a 2006 6cyl?

I am getting ready for a 2000 mile tow and want to add the cooler a couple weeks b4 the July 4th trip!

That'll be fine. Any tranny cooler (they're all universal) would be good. The bigger the better actually since it'll cool a lot faster than the smaller ones.

I'm about to do the same thing. Have you found any good deals on the cooler? Also, what type of fluid do our 4R's take (I'm sure it says in the manual...I just haven't looked yet)? I did look on the sticky in the 'Accessories' forum and they used a #679 (I think that is the same as a #1679). I thought it was interesting, if not wrong, that they did not add any fluid. You should need it since you are increasing the capacity of the system. They said they didn't add any since they only spilled a very small amount...sort of irrelevent.

Earlier today I stopped at Auto Zone and they did not show an available unit for '06. I figured '05 would be the same and they looked it up. It specified a different cooler depending on whether or not you had 'SuperCool'. Since I did not know what this was, I passed. Anybody know?

I called Hayden last night to confirm model. They said all are universal but going by where I live (Atlanta area, complete with high temps, high humidity and substantial hilly terrain) they said the #678 would be fine. The 679 would also work - it is just a bit bigger.

Go with the 679 the larger one, its only a little bit bigger. When filling becarful not to over fill, and remember to add little bit at a time because the cooler does not take much fluid at all. From the amount I spilled and also needed for the cooler I only added about 400 to 600 ML total.

Tranny Cooler (Hayden 678)

I order the 678 last night. Do you need anything else to complete the installation? Other hoses, clamps, adapters, etc?

IIRC, I needed a longer hose for my 3rd gen. Other than this, it comes w/ everything you need.
