correct temp for A750F transmission fluid level check

hello all,

i need some help confirming the correct temp to check the fluid level. i am going to use a scan gauge instead of the temp check mode on the 4Runner. i've been reading the forums and searching for a while and have came across two temps:

1) 104*F to 113*F
2) 115*F to 130*F


i also found this link on google, but it doesn't have any official toyota endorsement or anything showing it's an official document, but the directions on how to check the level seem legit.

Direction looks right, but not sure if it’s 1.7L for drain and fill is right tho... for temp, I think last time when the tech did mine, he use a thermometer gun point at the pan. Don’t think it’s that accurate, but asked frd from factory, looks like they just open up over flow when hot...

the most important part of this is the vehicle must be level front back side to side..

also do it on a day with 60-70 deg F temps . much easier...if too cold or hot can be a problem..

start engine open fill plug with pan under the fill hole. then using the scan gauge idling, the pan and torque temp will be the same since the tranny has no load.. when it hits 104 F add some fluid if it does not flow out ...
plug has no gasket to replace..done very easy and accurate..

oh i'm not too concerned about the numbers for drain and fill. the fluids drained will be measured + extra top off for the temp check. yeah using a temp gun for surface temp isn't accurate since the pan will take much longer to warm up while the fluid temp was probably already within range.

thanks! i just wanted to be sure the temp is correct to properly check the fluid level. the link is very helpful reference as well [emoji106]

i also saw this video on youtube from weber auto explaining the steps to check the atf on a sealed trans and he too said check between 104*F - 113*F. but wasn't sure if it applies to the 4Runner.

fwiw, those weber auto videos are really well done. I like the cut away props. It's a nice bonus that they have several toyota props.
